The Shepherd’s Voice

The Shepherd’s Voice is one of our pastor’s communications extension to the Church, our friends and the world.  He uses it as a way to reach out to our faith community while providing spiritual insight and perspectives to the sermon messages and events and issues of our day.  We are welcomed and encouraged to comment on any of the messages by clicking the “Fine or Main Point” link you want to comment on, going to the bottom of the page and filling in and Submitting the Reply at the end of the message.  Most of the blogs have audio playback so we can listen to as well as read them.  We hope you are blessed and inspired by our Shepherd’s Voice.

Fragile Thursday May 11, 2017

“Fragile: Handle With Care” are the words that appear on the side of boxes that contain items such as glass that are easily broken.   The same can be said of man.

As I sit in a doctor’s office, l notice all the people there for injuries sustained in the course of daily life.  Some are in wheel chairs, some are on crutches, some with body parts in slings, and still others hopping along.  Our bodies are fragile and easily broken down by injury or disease.

God has also taken notice of our condition and is not without compassion as it is written “for he knows our frame, he remembers that we are dust” –  Psalm 103:13.  We need to remember this about ourselves and each other on a daily basis.

Seeing we can be broken at any moment, let us be careful with how we carry ourselves and practice having more love and patience for our fellow fragile human beings.   For after all, when you are living in a glass house it’s not wise to throw stones.

Worked Out Wednesday May 10, 2017

Greetings Family

What do you do when things don’t work out the way you hoped and prayed for?  Is there something you have been continuing to go to the altar about and/or pray about and it still hasn’t come to pass as you hoped?  If so, don’t feel like you are alone.

Many Christians, including myself, continue to experience frustration and disappointment over something that is very important to us.  Apostle Paul expressed his frustration by telling us “a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.  Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.” – 2 Corinth 12:7-8.  The Lord never moved Paul’s thorn, but gave him the grace and strength to live with it.

Until God gives you an answer like He gave Paul, there is still hope for a favorable outcome to your prayer request.  Don’t stop praying.  Let’s continue to trust and believe that God has his reasons for allowing things to be as they are.  And although we can’t understand or see His reasons, as long as this thing is important to You, continue to tell God about it.

His grace and strength is sufficient to see us through our most frustrating and disappointing challenges.  So, keep doing what you are doing well and keep checking your spiritual mailbox everyday for your answer from God.  God delivers mail everyday!

Terrific Tuesday May 9, 2017

Good Morning Saints

Can I call you saints?  I don’t want to call you out your name.  Our faith calls us to be saints.  “But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints;” Eph 5:3.

Allow me to remind you to never lose focus.  Don’t allow the cares and misfortunes of life to cause you to lose focus and contact with God.  With each breath and heartbeat, resolve to keep your spirit in tune and in step with His Spirit.

So do a good job today and earn your pay, drive safely and be careful while you are out and about.  Also be nice to everyone (especially your family) even if everyone is not nice to you.  Remember to pray and be thankful for the good that will come your way today.  Treasure, cherish, and enjoy each moment of this day of life God has given us to live.  Savoy it as you would a delicious meal.

And above all, let’s work to live up to our name.  Have a good day saints!  Remember, heaven is cheering for you!  Let’s give them something to cheer about!

Blessings

Post Sunday May 8, 2017

Greeting FB!

I hope we all woke up today thinking about “Saving Souls”.  Well if you didn’t, I want to remind you of our calling and purpose.  If Jesus is truly our Lord and Savior, then his mission is our mission.  Do you ever wonder why He said “I never knew you”.  I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because they never identified with His mission.  Let this be a turning point for all of us as we begin to acknowledge ourselves as the “Savers of Souls”

Those of you who installed our church app are receiving this message from me.  It is a great tool for interacting with members and friends of the church.  Share our app with others especially members who are technologically challenged or intimidated.  Help them to download and install our church app.

We had a nice time at Pleasant Plain yesterday along with a nice turnout of support.  They had a really nice program and the food was good.  The sermon was entitled “How Could They Not Know” and is available on the sermon playlist.

Let’s have a good week as we count down to Sunday.  Happy Monday.
